Nyasa Big Bullets have pegged their marksman Babatunde Adepoju at K50 million following interests from foreign clubs.

One of the clubs interested in the 2022 TNM Super League Golden Boot winner is South Africa Football Association (Safa) National First Division side Venda Academy FC.

On South African lower league side’s radar: Babatunde

Venda contacted Bullets for the player and were told he is valued at $50 000 (about K50 million), according to the club’s general manager Tenda Masikhwa.

Bullets chief administration officer Albert Chigoga confirmed the South African club’s interest, but said they have not yet opened negotiations on the transfer fee.

He said: “They expressed their interest in the player and we responded to them. We told them we have no problem as long as they are able to meet the player’s valuation. About the fees, there is nothing agreeable at this stage.

“They have not yet come back to us since then, and we are struggling to understand if they were serious or they are just one of those clubs that are interested in our players.”

Venda Football Academy are based in Venda, and previously played in Safa’s Second Division.

They moved to the National First Division at the start of the 2021-22 season after businessperson Robinson Ramaite purchased the franchise from Cape Umoya United.

This is not the first interest in Babatunde who is also on the radar of Ugandan champions Vipers SC.

Soccer analyst Charles Nyirenda said more offers could come the player’s way following his recent success.

He said: “Best thing for him is to weigh which is the best offer rather than rush into those that come first.”

Babatunde won the Golden Boot with 18 goals, beating Mighty Mukuru Wanderers striker Muhammad Sulumba on second with 15 goals. He also top-scored in the 2022 FDH Bank Cup as well as the 2021 Airtel Top 8.
